bout Coach4Lawyers
I began my work coaching lawyers when I noticed that quite often they represented over half of my psychotherapy practice. After sustaining this for a number of years, I decided to make coaching with lawyers a specialty. How is coaching different from psychotherapy?
There is a subtle difference. That difference is in the focus of the relationship between coach and client. In coaching lawyers, the focus is on the person's career development, while in therapy the focus is much broader, and perhaps deeper. However, as a coach, I rely on the skills I've developed over 30 years as a psychotherapist to understand my clients and to form lasting, helpful relationships.
My coaching practice is in several areas: one to one marketing, client retention, and leadership. To that I would also add professional conduct. By this I mean working with lawyers who are having trouble for whatever the reason developing solid, useful relationships with colleagues and staff.
In one to one marketing, we work on the skill of presenting yourself to a potential client in such a way that they can only conclude you must be their lawyer. In client retention, we develop the skill of helping clients retain you i.e. consistently choose to see you as an asset not only in legal problems, but also for their business. In leadership coaching, we help you become that person that others choose to follow.
I enjoy my work with lawyers, and I look forward to hearing from you to discuss how I might help you with your professional needs.Thank you,
Jim Dolan
